Handling and Planning a Deceased Estate Clearance

When a loved one passes away, they may leave several items behind. Some of these items may be listed in a will to be given to certain friends and family members. This could still leave you with a home, furniture or other items. In this case, a deceased estate clearance is an ideal option. If you have never handled this type of estate sale before, there are some key points to keep in mind.

Assessing the Property

One of the first steps that will need to be taken is having the property assessed. This means someone will come in and determine what items will be part of the deceased estate clearance. They will also determine the value of each item. They will create a log to show each item and the value of the item. This log may go further and show what room of the home the items will be in for the estate clearance. The assessment stage can take several days to several weeks depending on the number of items to be included in the clearance.

Determining the Sale

A step involved in deceased estate clearance is determining if the home will be sold along with the rest of the items. If you will be selling the home, there are several probate steps you may need to take. These steps can include everything from drawing up deeds to having the land surveyed. You may also decide there is a minimum amount you will accept for the home. These figures will be discussed with the estate or probate sales group prior to the clearance. If you decide to retain the home, you will need to take steps to determine how long you want the sale of the rest of the items to last and how you want to have the home passed into your ownership if it is not already.

Item Removal

You may have some items that you do not want to sell. These could be items that are broken or damaged or they may be items you want to donate to a charity. You will work with the clearance company to determine which items fall into these categories. Once this is settled, the items will be removed from the home. Items to go to charity will be sent to the charity of your choice. Items to be thrown away can go into a skip bin or sent to a landfill.

By keeping these key points in mind, you can make the process easier. When you are ready to begin, contact your area estate sale or probate sale organization. They can schedule an appointment to discuss what items will need to be part of the clearance. They can also schedule a time to assess and value the items. If you have any questions about the process, you can ask them during the first appointment.

The Do's And Don'ts Of Online Shopping

Not long after I gave birth to my second child, I decided to embrace online shopping as a way for me not to have to tackle crowded shopping centres with two children under the age of three. I cannot tell you how much easier my life has become. From doing a weekly food shop to buy the kids some clothes while on sale, online shopping gives me time back in my day. I want to encourage other people on how to safely and effectively shop online, so I have created this blog. From protecting your credit card details to the best time to shop for sale goods, my blog posts will get others comfortable with ordering everything and anything from the comfort of their home.
